Garth Steele, CA - Ottawa

Garth Steele began his career with Welch LLP as a co-op student while wrapping up his Bachelor of Mathematics Degree at the University of Waterloo. He formally joined the company in 1984, received his CA designation in 1986, then moved up to the rank of Partner in 1993.

Garth is Welch’s in-house expert for GST, HST, Payroll taxes, and Ontario Retail Sales Tax and helps clients, bankers, lawyers and other accountants understand the implications and applications related to harmonization of the Federal and Provincial sales tax regimes.

Garth's list of achievements also includes being a lecturer and tutorial leader with the ICAO and the CICA. He is the editor of Welch LLP's quarterly newsletter - INSIGHTS - and is responsible for the direction of many of Welch LLP's marketing efforts.

Outside the office, Garth sits on the Board of First Place Pregnancy Centre. In his spare time, Garth plays a mean tuba and trombone.
