Rita holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University majoring in Accounting and Finance. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA – Ontario, Canada) and a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois, US).
Rita has over 13 years of experience in Canadian, US and global expatriate tax planning, compliance and consulting on behalf of multinational companies. In her previous role, Rita provided advise to corporate clients on the management of international cross border assignment/mobility programs; the payroll and tax aspects of international assignments as well as advised individual clients on both US and Canadian personal tax implications of going on cross border assignments or moving permanently and acted as trusted tax advisor providing tax planning and tax compliance services.
She has experience in coordinating and overseeing international expatriate programs specializing in delivery of tax, payroll and other related services to employees, including executives of multinational companies. Her clients included various multinational companies in various industries including technology, mining, and construction.
Prior to joining Welch, Rita held senior position with a large accounting firm and lead the Canada/U.S. Cross border team in Ottawa.
