On June 22nd, Welch LLP partnered with Gowling & Orbis to hold a private screening of “Indian Horse” at the Canadian War Museum, to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Indian Horse is a film adaptation of Richard Wagamese’s award-winning novel that tells the story of an Ojibwe boy who survives the residential school system by finding solace on the ice. This incredibly poignant film premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, and won the top award at the 2017 Vancouver International Film Festival.

JP Gladu, President and CEO of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) also attended and discussed the topic of economic reconciliation within the group.
